Poligamize Me
Behind the Music: Poligamize Me
It is my belief that most men secretly wish the ancient practice of poligamy was still fasionable today. Somewhere deep down they believe that a few wives and exponentially more children would bring them more happenis than ever imaginable. Well…at least more diaper bills.
“Poligamize Me,” the title track for my first EP, is about just that; a lonely man’s desire to leave his mark on this world through good old family ties…and lot’s of them. I actually wrote this song many years ago in high school while daydreaming about the ridiculous. It survived many iterations to finally become what it is now; a pseudo-country fun fest complete with a God-voice and banjo in the background.
I would absolutely love to hear what you think about it. Can I get a vote? All those in favor say “five wives or bust!”

Behind the Music: BFF

BFF
Ahhh “BFF,” one of my more eccentric songs. For anyone who has seen the music video – you’ve probably figured out that it’s a song about my best friend who also happens to be a hemorrhoid.
What inspires a song about a hemorrhoid? Well, my humor has always tended to drift towards taking things super literal, and when I finally figured out what a hemorrhoid truly was, I decided a personification of a semi-hilarious-but-not-so-hilarious medical issue mixed with an everyday cause for strain in a relationship might be funny.
It took two short days to film, a couple of bucks to buy various fluids and and nasty looking mexican food, and a lot of guts for my BFF Brian DeWire. Our first day was spent on a Saturday morning at a city park. It progressively got more and more awkward as baseball teams started streaming in for their early morning games. The bicycle scene was the most difficult shot of the day. Getting two grown men on one bike with one dressed like a back up dancer for Britney Spears was no easy feat. Plus to get the shot, someone had to pull our cameraman/editor David Ferry Jr. in a wheelchair backwards at the same moment we came bumping down the road. Needless to say the constant stream of cars giving us double takes and long stares confirmed that we looked like what we already felt like; a freak show.
To top it off we had to ask a dugout full of middle-aged men for permission to shoot the baseball scene that featured my BFF pitching and hitting on my back. I don’t know if it was the pointing or constant snickering that made me blush more.
When all was said and done we had a great time, an awesome song, and the world’s first music video about a hemorrhoid. Be sure to let me know what you think!

1. BFF – Info
Behind the Music: I’m a Benchwarmer
I can still remember the sound of my wrist snapping as it hit the hardwood floor. My uncoordinated mass of a body couldn’t handle the coaches orders to run backwards across the basketball court. Freshmen basketball tryouts may have landed me with a cast, six weeks of benchwarming, and a funny story, but it didn’t end there.
I wrote the hook to “I’m a Benchwarmer” during my junior year of high school (which seems like eons ago). I picked it up again a few years later and finished the rap for my first EP titled “Poligamize Me.”
Filming the music video had to be the highlight of this song. Calling it controlled chaos doesn’t do it service. We filmed the video in a short few hours one Saturday morning with over 30 friends, 2 cameras, and a dance troupe of friends who learned the dance the night before. We had the two cameras rolling simultaneously while the crowd roared and the basketball game was being played.
I had my fair share of the ole’ splinter butt in my day. But I wouldn’t trade my high school b-ball playing years for anything. I made the Freshmen basketball team that year, sat on the bench for most of the beginning of the season, and a few months later was actually (and surprisingly) awarded the Most Improved Player award.
Good times. Good memories. Sore butt.

“Up”date
Why do they call it an “up”date? Why not a “down”date or a “side”date? What about a “news”date? That sounds a little more accurate. In any case, this is a “date” of some sort in which I communicate what’s going on.
I will be releasing a new song soon for everyone who’s itching for another tune before the next album. It’s a separate project I’ve been working on and won’t be included on the next EP (coming soon). It’s a little bit rock, a little bit opera, and a lot bit awesome. Look out for the release here and on iTunes in the next week or two.
I’m also working on another video. Probably not as elaborate as the last, but fun nonetheless. Watch for that soon too.
Last but not least, I’ve decided to post a series called “Behind the Music.” No, I haven’t hired a film crew to document my every muscial move (not yet at least), but I will be posting regular fun tidbits about the various songs on each album, the inspiration behind hits like BFF and Poligamize Me, and other interesting notes. Watch for these updates at least once or twice a week.
That’s what’s crackin for now. Talk to you soon.
BFF Music Video
It’s here! After some serious hours working with David Ferry Jr. at Lindele Media, the newest music video has arrived.
For anyone who hasn’t heard this song on my first EP, Poligamize Me, it’s about my new best friend who’s causing tension between my girlfriend and I.
Don’t ask why…yet, but this definition might help: HEMORRHOID – A dilated (enlarged) vein in the walls of the anus and sometimes around the rectum, usually caused by untreated constipation but occasionally associated with chronic diarrhea.
If you have as much fun with this video as we did then share it with your friends and post it on your FaceSpace. Don’t forget to leave a comment here and on youtube. (and if you really like it buy the EP!).
Serious mad crazy props go to Brian Dewire who stars as my best friend in the new video. Kellie Lewis, Eric Miller, Britney Holt, Spatch Heron, Mama Lewis, and Justin Golightly were all also a tremendous help.; either starring in or helping with the production (or both).
My second EP, Number 2: A Play On Turds, is set to release sometime in the next three weeks. I’ll be sending out an invite very soon for the ONLINE RELEASE PARTY I mentioned last time (see post below).
See you soon!
Rockin
and Rollin. It’s been a month since I released Poligamize Me and the reception’s been great. Thanks to everyone for your feedback and support. I wanted to give a quick update on current projects.
So far I’m on target to release the second album by March. My goal is to release a 5-song EP (mini album) every three months. The second album, currently untitled, is over half way done. I just finished vocals on the 3rd song tonight and hope to blaze through the next 2 songs over the next 2 weeks.
We’ve also been hard at work on a new music video. I’ve teamed up with the most talented David Ferry Jr. at Lindele Media (see I’m a Benchwarmer for our first project) and can’t wait to see what happens. We’re scheduled to start shooting this weekend. Look for the new video this month.
As always, you’re thoughts and comments are most appreciated. So let me know what you think!
Onward and upward!
Twas the Night Before Christmas
My first album has arrived! And just in time for Santa to load on his iPod before his busy night. Head over to the Music section for a listen. Make sure to let me know what you think.
Merry Christmas!
Delayed
So I just got off the phone with my “agent” and he told me the guys over at Apple hadn’t gotten their acts together and posted my album. So I called my “manager” and he had the same story. Needless to say, my “contact” at iTunes tells me we’ll probably go live next week.
Since I don’t feel that I’m able to express how I feel properly through words, I’ve decided to express it through song. Listen below for the full extent of my emotional status.

Check back next week for the biggest mini-album release ever.
7 Years
I’ve been wanting to release an album for 7 years; ever since I wrote my first song in high school on my friend’s mini guitar. It comprised of squeaky vocals, 3 chords, and horrible rhymes about a bad date I had that summer.
Well, I’ve learned something in the last 7 years. A full album takes a lot of time and money. And that’s why I didn’t record one.
Instead, I’m going to release a 5-song CD every 3 months – copyright free.
Check out the music page for more info, but basically all of my music is licensed so that you are completely free to copy, perform, or use my music for another project.
And that’s how this project is different; it’s totally dependent on you. The little guy (that’s me) can’t do it on his own. Too many companies, too many rules, too much money. But the internet has changed all that. With you, music can spread like never before.
So join me in December when I release my first 5-song mini album, Poligamize Me. And if you like what you hear, tell a friend.
